Has anyone tried software to watch TV on you PC for free? If so, does it work and which do you recommend?
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010Has anyone tried Inet-TV software? They say you can get 1,000 channels on your PC for a one-time fee of $25.?
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010I am trying to find some software that I can use without getting a tuner or having cable, to watch TV on my PC when I travel. I’d like to know if anyone is currently using software like Inet-TV, if it works, and just how good it is.
I’ve tried something similar. The television quality is generally crappy and laggy at times. I would not recommend it.

If you want to watch TV on your computer the same way you would on a TV, you need a TV tuner card. Here is some info on what tuner cards work with Windows: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/mediacenter/getstarted/tuners-remotes.mspx

Which is the best Tv tuner card for my PC?
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010My system specs:
Viewsonic 19" Widescreen Lcd monitor
250GB Space
I want a card which can support 1400*900 resolution, records tv, fm tuner, pause and rewind function, should include a good remote, good software package….I can pay upto Rs 5000
I just bought an hvr 1800 by haupauge and an avermedia m780. Both were good cards but had problems with clear qam. Expecially the haupauge card. If I could do it all over again or if I wasnt married I would get an HDHomerun wich is supposed to have excellent tuning for clear qam (unencrypted digital cable) and you can operate it over your home network. And there is also a reiview on brand called onair I’ll give you the link. This card is supposed to be the best one reviewed by guru 3d. The haupauge one takes fore ever to switch channels and the software that came with it was a mess. The avermedia card software was pretty good and didnt have over scan issues or aspect ratio problems. If you are using media center or a 3rd party application clear qam is not supported by these card unless you are using beta drivers. I would tell you to try the onair one and if you are going to use cable or digital cable the hdhomerun is probably going to be your best bet. Avermedia is probably the best one you install on the inside of your computer that I used. as far as resolution goes the car accepts what ever the resolution its getting from the station. you can always set it to full screen. Tv card perform better decoding streams and if you have a decent graphics card you can enhance settings using the control center on the graphics card.
