How would you choose a hostel????10 points to the best?

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

I would like to open an hostel in florence.
is located at 900 meters from the train station campo di marte of florence.
Campo di marte is the secondary station because the city’s central station is santa maria novella.
but the hostel is 10 minutes from the historic center.
considered that in the center there are many hostels but many without the breakfast.
would you choose without the many services one but in the center, or the other one with many services but at few minutes far?
the hostel will have satellite TV in common room,playstation2,Breakfast included,BBQ,guest kitchen, loundry service, little garden with ping pong, board games, lagage storage, celing fan or heat, distributor of snack and internet access free with computer

pleace use google maps to see the points that I am writing down.

secondary station (campo di marte firenze)

hostel (via scipione ammirato firenze)

center of florence (piazza sant’ ambrogio firenze).

pleace find this points on the maps, to give me your opinion on distances on idea and Services

Furthermore, we also do the booking free trips and visits to museums of florence. and we give you the map for free
the price is about 20 euro

I would check if there was one associated with IYHA first (HI hostels as you know what to expect). Other than than, the price of the bed and the location would be the most important.

I would probably look for the cheapest bed, out of available locations. If there was not much in it, I would go for the best location. If there was a reasonable difference in price (more than 20% say), then the secondary location and cheaper price would be preferred. (I would prefer quiet location for sleeping, and so 2-3 miles from the town centre would be acceptable walking distance)

As for breakfast, I prefer to source and cook my own food at all times. However, if the price for breakfast added little to the bed price it would not be something which swayed me one way or the other.

Some exceptions to this are when hostels are in ski-resorts. I have experienced some hostels in ski resorts which can only be booked with breakfast and a main evening meal. The price was still very very good for a ski-resort, and the food was very acceptable for the price. However, again I would tend to use HI affiliated hostels in ski resorts.

It really depends on who your clientele are. 900 metres from the train station might mean you are always busy. However, it is not likely to be somewhere I would want to stay. I prefer a good night sleep!

I would make the bed itself as cheap as possible, and then if people wanted to buy breakfast make it an option. 20 Euros a night sounds like you might need to try some special offers to fill rooms. 10 Euros a night and you would be full!

? regarding HDTV connections?

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

I just bought an LCD HDTV, (possibly) stupidly thinking that it would work if you had HD service, but that it would also work if you have just regular cable. However, there are no coax plug-ins on the tv (just an odd HDTV plug in, places for peripherals and you can use it as a computer monitor). So, am I stuck getting HD service? Can I get an HD DVR/satellite receiver to connect to the TV, but not order HD service. Is there a coax to HD converter cable? What are my options? This was not a cheap purchase and it was via the internet, so would cost a fortune to return the tv. The cheapest route from here would be to buy a HD DVR, but if I have to add in the cost of HD service, it would pretty much eliminate the savings of the tv.

An LCD HDTV will work fine if you have regular cable TV. On mine I get a great picture.

You seem to have bought a monitor only, and NOT a TV. No built-in tuner.
You will need to buy an external TV tuner, a HD DVR, will work as a tuner just fine. You don’t have to get the HD service although you will love the HD picture if you get the service.

You can look on line for an External TV tuner and plug the output into the monitor.

You can also get from your cable company a cable converter box. The box will act as a tuner.

Questions about today’s technology!?

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

Note:I would like to get an in-depth explanation for each question, please!

1.So,how can information that are uploaded from one side of the world, can be viewed on the internet from a computer on the other side of the world (to me,it seem like instantly!)?

2.Are the servers relay information at the speed of light or faster?

3.How does the internet infrastructure works?

4.How can we able to translate information into signals which can be re-converted again on the internet?

5.How are we able to transmit information via phone, satellite,or on the internet at such fast speed?

6.How were we able to get an object to transmit a signal in the first place? Since,if I had a computer, but if I don’t know what to put in it so it can send and get signals,so how people figure that problem out?

7.How does a CD player works? I know it reads the disc,but I want a in-depth explanation!

8.How were we able to have electricitiy in our home,in other words how are we able to control electricitiy and direct it to where we want to be via outlets or electronic devices?

9.How does a land phone and a cell phone works?

10.How does a TV works?

11.How does a space shuttle works?

12.How does an airplane works?

13.How fast does a space probe travel at? Since,I am surprise that NASA and other space agencies has space probes on Mars and so on…!

1) Because the computers are on the same network (the internet) and a network that didn’t pass information around would be fairly pointless.

2) No, nothing goes faster than light. Compared to light the servers and networks are very very slow.

3) That would take about 2 hours for the short version.

4) Because people have figured out all sorts of ways of getting different things into computers (microphones, cameras etc…) and once in a computer it is just information which can be moved as easily as any other type of information.

5) It actually travels very slowly. As for how, get a degree in communications and then google Shannon’s theory and that should explain it all.

6) By plugging in a cable or using a radio.

7) A laser bounces off the disc, there are lots of little pits in the disc, if the laser hits a pit it bounces differently. The CD player looks for that difference.

8) Because we (meaning lots of humans but apparently not you) understand it.

9) By converting sound to electrical signals and then sending that to the other end.

10) See 9 but light as well as sound

11) By having a big engine.

12) By having a slightly smaller engine.

13) Very fast in comparison to anything else you can touch. Very slow in comparison to light or information.

Any way to get a better cellphone signal?

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

Over the last few months, i’ve been communicating with my friend an increasingly amount via texting. The problem with this is, that i happen to live in a deadzone. And on top of that, my house also has a metal roof that severely hinders my phone’s signal.

There is all but about 3 windows in my house where i get a decent signal. Luckily, one is right by my desk and bed. But it’s still unbelievably annoying to reach 5 feet every time i have to send or receive a message. And plus i’ve dropped my phone several times due to bumping it off the window seal. It’s really only a matter of time until it breaks.

My carrier is Verison, and my phone is an LG Cosmos if that helps any.

My family is on a(As the people at verison put it) a horribly out-dated family plan that’s close to becoming obsolete all together. But, it’s rather cheap for the 3 people we have on it so we decide to stick with it until it actually does.

When i was at the verison store a few months ago, i saw some sort of modem looking device. And what i got from the description on it, it seemed like a device that hooked into your landline and was able to also connect to all of your cellphones and send messages/calls through that. But I’m pretty sure that’s a higher-end package that includes internet, phone, and cellphone(not to mention it most likely costs a lot).

And also we would have to shift every single one of our digital package deals. Our satellite TV, internet, and phone are provided through a Windstream Communications package.

Is there any way around my terrible signal? Or am i really stuck with what i have now?

Well, personally, I’m with AT&T, and the only time that I’ve lost signal is when I’ve been in the middle of a causeway. Their packages are competitive, and offer wireless internet throughout a residence, high-speed internet, telephone service, and cable, as well as family rates on cell phone usage that include free 3G phones as options.

I had to upgrade from the original LG shine, just this summer, and they were nice enough to actually have an updated version of the shine available. I actually switched from Sprint, over a year ago, because they wouldn’t replace, upgrade, or repair my phone, without me starting a whole new contract. All the while, the stupid thing never got any signal, and was becoming unusable, not to mention the battery life.

So my advice is to take a look at what your family is spending on all those separate services, and see if a package might not be a better option, and would allow you to get a phone that gets better signal. Barring that, see if there isn’t a program that will let you get a new phone as a simple customer service. AT&T did it for me, and I just had to pay shipping, without changing plans. Verizon may do the same. And if all of that fails, see about switching providers, and what plans or packages might be more appealing for your family. I suggest looking at cell phone kiosks located in warehouse clubs like Sam’s, Costco, or BJ’s. You can also look on the company websites to see what are available in your area. You may actually save your family hundreds or thousands a year, if you find a smarter option for them.

Best of luck, I wish I could help more, but there really is no way to boost signal. They’ve said that putting a foil gum wrapper or some foil under your phone’s back-plate would help, and they’ll try to market big heavy diddly-boppers that only make you look silly. You’re just better off trying to upgrade to a 3G or 4G, which use satellite signals to communicate, rather than local receiving towers. Also, instead of calling or texting, if you have internet access at home, just IM to them over the phone, or call them, using Google phone, or skype, the former of which is free in country, and the latter of which is free to other skype users.

Can my laptop handle the Hauppauge HD PVR?

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Firstly I would mainly be using this to stream live over the internet via Justin.tv

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/toshiba-satellite-l650-19w-06525271-pdt.html?srcid=867&xtor=AL-50

Im not a techy guy, above is my laptop. Would I be able to handle using a Hauppauge HD PVR for my cast?

http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/products/data_hdpvr.html

Obviously I’d need to screencap too so can anyone assist me in if my laptop could handle it?

Also what extra items would I need to get the audio to work WITHOUT stero mix or a mixer?

Thanks

Many who use the Hauppauge do use it on laptops yet they run WInXP there are far less errors when running with XP if your running Win7 remove a lot of the background programs that are from the maker of the laptop. The most errors we have heard comes from a laptop from Toshiba running Win 7 and all the Toshiba software. Their software does slow the laptop and it also draws from the system software as well, just go to the ‘Task Manager’ and you should see whats running….

Lastly Max the RAM I know I say it a lot yet laptops do run better and faster and smoother with the RAM Max…..

As for the product the Hauppauge is a good step above the Dazzle and just below a Grass Valley ADVC unit.

How can I create a Satellite TV Provider like this?

Sunday, September 12th, 2010

I am creating a Satellite TV Provider. It will have Pay TV and On Demand Content.
The reason I have chosen Satellite over Terrestrial is because the Multiplexes are far to full.

Do I have to host the EPG on satellite or can I just tell the user to plug it into their phone line and host it via the internet?

How would I set my EPG Numbers up?

What encryption should I use and how do I use it?

How do I know who has subscribed to what?

First, you gather together a very, very large amount of money. As in hundreds of millions. Then you hire engineers and consultants to answer all of these questions for you.

Is it legal if you get live tv via cable or satellite or regular tv and then broadcast via internet?

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Not streming i say live.

It is not illegal if you transmit it for your own viewing, but if you make it public on a website or youtube, that is.

Go here: http://www.scrubmoney.com/save-money/free-tv/ for streaming video websites reviews.

read what i have learned and what next i should learn on the pc?

Monday, July 19th, 2010

i have learned:
make my own website(HTML)
rip dvds
torrents
text message by email
dvr shows on tv on pc
my camera to a web cam
get unlimited internet by phone via bluetooth
convert files
download youtubedownloader
turn my treadnet a small satellite
make free phone calls computer to phone
turn camera into a web cam
hook pc to tv
breadboards
idk thats it ? have any ideas ?

Learn how to edit the registry. This might come in handy if you get a virus or something. Learn a programming language. I suggest Java but c++ is also good. If you have a little bit of money($500+), build a computer from scratch.

DISH NETWORK, DIRECT TV or CABLE FOR HD PREGRAMMING? WHICH IS THE BEST?!?!/!?

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

I have cable through my local carrier with their fastest internet + all premium channels and all available HD programming. For the rate I am paying,($200 or so monthly) I am sure that I can get any premium HD programming through any carrier and it will be same price or less. So price aside, what is the best provider to go with to maximize my HD programming and premium movie selection. I do enjoy Howard TV through On Demand as well and I run my HD programming to 3 TVs all via cable card. What should I know about Satellite vs Cable and current available HD programming? Thanks!

Dish network satellite TV provider offers free installation of HD receivers on up to 4 TVs and free Dish HD for period of 6 months. Afterwards the price should be around $20 per Dish HD monthly, so your cost shouldn’t be more than around $60 for 3 receivers.

Quality of picture from Dish network is excellent and installation of dish is free with every order.
